Nordic International Film Festival Kicks Off in NYC

From Oct. 31st - Nov. 1st the Scandinavia House hosts the first ever NIFF.

This fall marks a riveting event for film lovers, especially for those who appreciate the diverse Icelandic art scene. On October 31st and November 1st, the Scandinavia House in New York City is hosting the first ever Nordic International Film Festival, or NIFF. So far they have over 30 official selections, showcasing everything from full length feature films, to narrative short films, to documentaries. There’s something for everyone, from heart-wrenching love stories to more contemplative abstract pieces. Their website has an incredible array of trailers, so you can map out which officially selected films to catch during the festival!

Make sure you catch Icelander Eva Solveig’s performance in “Chapters,” a riveting narrative short film that explores eight phases of life between two people and shows the raw moments of friends and lovers. It will have its world premiere at the NIFF on October 31st. Check out the trailer here!

Don’t miss this journey of the senses in New York this year. Film has a way of reflecting the tone of a generation, of sending messages into the world about what a country’s thinking. It will be an incredible opportunity to reflect on the ever-changing art scene, culture and story of Iceland.
