The Newest Restaurant and Hotel Openings in Iceland!

There are so many new attractions to visit in Iceland, but we’ve picked out the top places you need to see.

Though Iceland, may be small, it’s a bustling country full of rich culture, history, and so much more. The country continues to grow as new businesses, hotels, resorts and restaurants open up. With so much to see and do, we’ve compiled a list of the new openings to add to your checklist on your next trip to Iceland.

Restaurants

Flatley

Only the freshest ingredients are used in Reykjavik’s newest pizza joint, Flatley. With tomatoes bought right from the farm to using organic flour, this restaurant brings an authentic Italian flavor to Iceland. Its menu offers a variety of pizza types, from the traditional marinara to a dessert Nutella pizza. The pizza is baked in just a few minutes at a temperature of 500 degrees, making your pizza freshly baked for when you arrive. If you’re looking for a fresh meal with an Italian twist, this is the place for you!

Messinn Granda

With a view overlooking the harbor, this newest seafood restaurant is not one to miss! Serving up a fried fish buffet, this spot brings all the flavors of Icelandic cuisine for visitors to try. Dishes include Icelandic “Plokkfiskur,” fish soup and even some vegan options, ensuring everyone in your travel group will find something they enjoy! Messinn has even expanded so you can now find this fantastic seafood in Lækjargata and at a new location opening in Grandagarður. Supubarinn

Located downtown in a building covered with natural Icelandic foliage, this vegetarian and vegan soup bar will warm you up after a day of exploring the streets of Reykjavik. The cafe offers a variety of soup flavors from Tex Mex to a traditional tomato and basil. And don’t forget to take your picture in front of the building’s mural! The owners just opened the place in Reykjavik, but now you can also find them in two places: Borgartun and Bergstaðastræti.

Hotels

Arnarstapi Hotel

Located in Snæfellsbær, Iceland’s latest hotel opening is the Arnarstapi Hotel. The hotel features free Wi-Fi and even an attached restaurant. Guests staying here will have access to the Cliffs of Arnarstapi, Ólafsvík town centre and Snæfellsjökull National Park. With plenty to see and enjoy while staying here, this scenic hotel will suit anyone interested in seeing more of Icelandic culture and nature outside of Reykjavik.

Harbour View Grindavik

This new hotel is located in the same town as the world-famous Blue Lagoon, making it a great destination to stay at if you wanted to check out the popular site. With cabins laid out across the hotel grounds, this is a unique way to either start or end your trip to Iceland. Each luxury guest cabin comes with a view of the Grindavik Harbor. You can watch the ships in the day and maybe even the northern lights at night! The hotel boasts easy access to tourist destinations, restaurants and the airport, making your travels to and around Iceland a breeze.

Krauma Geothermal Baths

Krauma is Iceland’s newest geothermal bath location. Guests can enjoy the baths, saunas or even a relaxation room to completely unwind after your travels. With a selection of 5 baths, including one cold bath to help with blood circulation, guests will find they have plenty of space to explore the natural geothermal baths. The relaxation room offers an extra luxury space guests can listen to relaxing music and warm up by the fireplace. Krauma even offers a restaurant attached to its buildings allowing guests to enjoy the freshest Icelandic cuisine while enjoying a view of the hot springs.
