“The Swan”
Following the story of a young girl who is sent to live with her relatives in the Icelandic countryside for a summer, “The Swan” is a poignant coming of age story written and directed by Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir and based on the critically acclaimed Icelandic novel by Guðbergur Bergsson. Since the film premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, it has played at festivals and cinemas worldwide. “The Swan” has won 4 major awards, including Best Film at Cairo International Film Festival, Best Director at Kolkata International Film Festival, Jury Special Mention at Santa Barbara International Film Festival and Jury Special Mention at Skip City International Film Festival in Japan last month.
Critics have raved that the film “is a wonderfully understated coming of age story,” and “beautifully and honestly captures a major turning point of childhood.”
