The Mostly Nordic Chamber Music Series Comes to Seattle

Nordic Musicians bring their musical talents to the U.S.

Starting Sunday, February 10th, the Mostly Nordic Chamber Music Series and Smorgasbord opens for its 18th season at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle. The series kicks off with a concert featuring Icelandic violinist Elfa Run Kristinsdottir paired with Seattle-based pianist Deborah Dewey. All five concerts will showcase internationally and nationally acclaimed artists from each of the five Nordic countries. The additional four concerts will take place on March 10th, April 7th, May 5th and June 2nd.

Lisa Bergman, artistic director of the Mostly Nordic series, describes the series as one of the only concerts to “present such a spectrum of [musical] history while remaining focused on only one of the five Nordic countries per event.” Bergman elaborates and deems these artists as “true ambassadors of culture” who are delighted to perform and interact with the audience members following the show.

The Mostly Nordic series is known for highlighting lesser-known masterpieces and musicians who are making their U.S. debut, which creates a rare experience for both the audience and the performers. Each concert is presented in a dinner theatre format with a large selection of gourmet Nordic delicacies from the particular featured country. In addition to the dinner, guests are also provided free admission to all Nordic Heritage Museum exhibits.

Single ticket prices are $45 for Museum Members, $50 for non-Members (including smörgåsbord) and concert-only tickets are $20 for Members, $25 for non-Members. Season tickets for all five concerts (including smörgåsbord) are $195 for Members and $215 for non-Members. Tickets may be purchased through the Nordic Heritage Museum by calling (206) 789-5707, ext.10, or tickets may be ordered from the museum website.
