Keflavík Airport Awarded the 2020 Airport Service Quality Award

The ASQ award is given for exemplary hygiene during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keflavík Airport, Iceland’s largest airport, is among a group of 15 airports in Europe receiving special recognition from Airports Council International (ACI) for exceptional hygiene during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the final quarter of 2020, the ACI added the award category of hygiene to its service survey amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey assessed passenger experience of safety and hygiene in the airports and the measures taken after the pandemic began. Keflavík Airport was named to the top 25% of airports in Europe where passengers noted that the best hygiene and safety measures had been employed.

The Airport Service Quality program (ASQ), which conducts the ACI survey, is the world’s leading airport customer experience measurement and benchmarking program. In its implementation, passengers at airports throughout the world are asked standardized questions in over 30 service categories. In 2020, the survey was conducted in 348 airports throughout the world, 115 of which are in Europe. Keflavík Airport is among 38 airports in its size category (5–15 million passengers).

“During these trying times we at Keflavík Airport have listened to our customers and, through effective collaboration with the health authorities and implemented the measures necessary to ensure a hygienic and safe environment for our customers,” says Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson, Chief Commercial and Airport Development Officer (CCDO) at Isavia.

Guðmundur Daði says that Isavia and Keflavík Airport are thankful for the recognition. All employees have done their utmost to provide good services. They have listened to our passengers and are to be thanked for their efforts during these trying times.
