Starting June 16, Iceland is gearing up for its most exciting sports season yet. No matter where you are from, you can show your support and spirit for the Icelandic men’s soccer team by signing up for #TeamIceland, a digital hub to celebrate all things Icelandic. Members of the team will even be entered to win a trip to Iceland in June when the first game kicks off!
Iceland made FIFA history when it became the smallest country to ever qualify for the World Cup with a population of only 340,000 people. Now the team looks forward to traveling to Russia in June to compete in Group D with matches against Argentina, Croatia and Nigeria.
By signing up for Team Iceland, you will receive a personalized digital jersey with your own squad number and unique Icelandic name. Icelanders’ surnames are made up of the first name of their father or mother, combined with ‘dóttir’ for daughter and ‘son’ for son.
