Icelandic Composer to Score Upcoming Film Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman


Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson is scoring the upcoming psychological thriller, Prisoners.

The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Oscar® nominees Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) and Jake Gyllenhaal  (“Brokeback Mountain”). The film also features  Oscar® nominees Terrence Howard and Viola Davis, as well as Academy Award® winner Melissa Leo (“The Fighter”). The film will be released in theaters on September 20, 2013.

The movie takes place in Boston and follows a small-town carpenter who kidnaps the man he suspects took his six-year-old daughter and her best friend. Click here to see the official trailer.

Jóhann Jóhannsson has composed several movie scores, including Wicker Park (2004), Personal Effect (2009) and The Miners’ Hymns (2011).

In addition to scoring films, Jóhann is one of the founders of  Kitchen Motors, a record label, think tank and art organization with members including Sigur Rós, Múm, and Slowblow.
