Announced earlier this week, Icelandair added Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) as their next gateway providing service to and from Reykjavik Keflavik International Airport (KEV). This addition will be the 20th North American airport added to Icelandair’s network when it begins weekly flights in May 2018.
Not only is flying into Reykjavik the best way to get to Iceland, but travelers can also use Iceland as an excellent spot to have a layover en route to Europe. And for the local Icelanders, this partnership with DFW is an amazing layover opportunity for other parts of North America and South America.
Icelandair has always wanted to serve the southern portion of the United States. With the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area being the home of 6 million Americans, Icelandair CEO Birkir Holm Gudnason said, “Our new service from Dallas Fort Worth will provide a refreshing alternative for travelers from Texas with non-stop flights to Iceland and beyond. Flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Reykjavik will happen on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays taking off at 5:00pm (CDT) and landing at 6:00am (GMT). Alternatively, flights from KEV to DFW will be taking off at 5:15pm (GMT) and landing at 8:40pm (CDT) every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
