Iceland Named Top European Destination by Lonely Planet

For their annual Best in Travel selections, Lonely Planet asked more than 3,000 people where they have traveled and which places they enjoyed the most. The results are in, and Iceland came in 7th place overall!

Bhutan topped the list, followed by Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and India. Iceland was the top European destination on the list, followed by Italy in 19th place.

Iceland was also awarded second place in both the nature and security categories, fourth for exceeding visitors’ expectation, sixth for adventure, and ninth in the off-the-beaten-path category.
