Good Morning America Broadcasts Live from Inside an Icelandic Glacier!

GMA takes viewers beneath the ice and into a crevasse in the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier.

ABC’s Good Morning America has returned to Iceland — this time to explore deep into a crevasse in Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, one of Vatnajökull’s many outlet glaciers. Using a drone, the host of the popular TV show, Amy Robach, followed a team of elite ice climbers as they ventured into the drop. Watch the video below!

In addition to taking viewers deep underground, Good Morning America also revealed that the secret filming location of the new Star Wars film took place mostly in Iceland (where else can you find an ice planet worthy of Han Solo!?). There’s no denying it: when Hollywood wants to transport you, no green screen or special effects can beat the beauty of Iceland.

This is the second time in the past year that GMA held a live broadcast in Iceland. Last February, ABC news chief meteorologist Ginger Zee visited the volcanic eruption area of Holuhraun.
