DJ Lucky from Reykjavik Spins at the Brooklyn Soul Festival

DJ Lucky will lead off this year’s Brooklyn Soul Festival on Friday, October 8, spinning a set of soul 45s starting at 8pm.

The Festival will take place once again at the Bell House in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on October 8 and 9, featuring award-winning BBQ, a top-notch record fair, and a host of top soul DJs from around the world.  Tickets are available via Ticketweb.com under the title “Brooklyn Soul Festival“.

After running a stall at Kolaportið for years, DJ Lucky opened Lucky Records in late 2009 at Hverfisgata 82, 101 Reykjavík, where he stocks a massive inventory of over 20,000 records, by far the best used record shop in the country. He met Richard Lewis (aka DJ Honky, one of the co-organizers of the Brooklyn Soul Festival) when they were both featured DJs at this summer’s Funk í Reykjavík festival put on by Sammi from the band Jagúar, and realized that they shared a love of the deep grooves of 1960s and 1970s funk and soul.
