A Letter With No Address Was Safely Delivered in Iceland

Using only a map drawn on the envelope, the postal worker was able to find its destination.

Not knowing someone’s address when you want to send a letter to is usually a bad thing. If you’re sending a letter to a small town in Iceland, however, there’s still hope. After meeting a family in Búðardalur, Iceland, a traveler wanted to send the family a letter. Instead of including the address of the family’s farm, the traveler drew a map of the area directly on the envelope.

The traveler, not knowing the name of the family he was trying to get in contact with wrote, “A horse farm with an Icelandic/Danish couple and three kids and a lot of sheep!” and “the Danish woman works in a supermarket in Búðardalur.” Luckily, the population of Búðardalur is only 270 and the letter was delivered to the family without any problems!

Only in Iceland!
