Ring In 2015 With A Live Stream of Iceland’s NYE Fireworks Show!

Iceland Naturally celebrated New Year’s Eve by bringing Reykjavik’s famous fireworks from Iceland to your computer screen! From 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. EST ( 11:30 p.m. – 1 a.m. in Iceland), we brought you a live stream of Reykjavik’s fireworks show right on our homepage, www.IcelandNaturally.com

Let us know what you think of Reykjavik’s fireworks by tweeting @IcelandNatural using the hashtag #ReykjavikNYE.

With no fireworks restrictions in Reykjavik, the city’s entire population (more than 200,000 people!) comes together to create this spectacular New Year’s Eve display. The majority of the proceeds from fireworks sold in and around the city go to Iceland’s volunteer rescue group, Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (“ICE-SAR”), which makes the celebration even more meaningful.

In Iceland, New Year’s Eve festivities start with a family dinner, followed by bonfires (“brenna”), where family, friends and neighbors gather to watch the fireworks and celebrate the new year. Bars and restaurants stay open all night and, according to Icelandic folklore, several magical events happen: cows talk, seals take on human form, the dead rise from their graves, and elves move houses.
