To give visitors a chance to get to know these friendly animals, Icelandair offers a Lava Horseback Ride – a unique sight-seeing experience that takes participants on an adventure through the Icelandic countryside and equips them with everything they need from warm overalls and rain gear to riding boots and helmets.
Riders begin their tour at the Íshestar Riding Center stables and make their way through lava fields and hillsides. They’ll be able to experience the unique tolt gait of the horses while taking in the scenic views of the ancient rock formations and luscious greens of Iceland.
Operating year round, these tours are approximately four hours long and consist of riding, walking and enjoying the views of Iceland. Tours depart multiple times a day around 10AM, 2PM and 4PM.
