WINGTIPS

WINGTIPS was officially formed in 2014 by Vincent Segretario after informally using the moniker for a number of previous experimental solo performances. In 2015, the band self-released “Ultravision,” a collection of demos recorded at home. The title track from Ultravision was featured in the TBS television series, Search Party.

In 2016, the band released their first EP, “Greyarea.” The album is an androgynous sound of transition; an  interpolation of darkly shimmering layers of angular guitar and pulsating darkwave. Sharpening their anthemic rush with an increasing penchant for melody and a post-punk, eletronica atmosphere, “Greyarea” contextualizes new romantic for the post-millennial end times with compelling and cinematic hooks. With this release, former live member Hannah Avalon moves to creative collaborator, contributing to the ethereal track “Glass” and the ecstatic lullaby, “Wading.” The twin pantheons of synthpop and classic VG music are invoked as fleetingly familiar textures singularly assured by Vincent’s soaring voice.

In August 2018, WINGTIPS’ new single, “Relativity,” (their first work in close to two years) was released. Post-Punk.com calls the track “a soaring anthem stepped in mid to late 80s nostalgia whose keyboard driven production is a cross between John Hughes soundtrack cuts from Thompson Twins or OMD, and guitar work reminiscent of The Cure’s Disintegration.”
