Sólveig Matthildur

Sólveig Matthildur is the keyboardist and back-up singer of Iceland’s rising, post-punk trio band, Kælan Mikla. She began writing solo music when she moved to Berlin in 2016 and learned to record her music on a computer. In 2017, she released her first solo album, Unexplained Miseries & the Acceptance of Sorrow, which was awarded the prestigious Kraumur Award that same year. The record was then re-released on physical and digital formats by Toronto-based Artoffact Records, which also handles Kælan Mikla.

Following solo tours in Europe and Japan, Sólveig spent time developing her second record, Constantly in Love. Channeling varied influences like trip-hop pioneers Portishead, black metal band Urfaust and French post-punk chanteuse Hante, Sólveig’s sophomore album is part darkwave, part spoken art-poetry jams, and part electronic downtempo compositions. Artoffact Records will release Constantly in Love on vinyl, CD, and digital format on April 19, 2019. The album’s release party will be in Iceland at Sónar Reykjavik from April 25 – 27.
