This Year’s Reykjavík International Film Festival Returns from September 26 – October 6!

The acclaimed film festival celebrates independent films from over 40 different countries.

Filmmakers from around the world will flock to Reykjavík from September 26 – October 6 to attend the acclaimed Reykjavík International Film Festival. As one of Iceland’s largest and most diverse cultural events, the festival celebrates independent films from over 40 different countries each year.

Both Icelanders and tourists are encouraged to attend this event that features professional mixers, panels, workshops, concerts, and even film screenings in some of the most unique places – such as a swimming pool or in the filmmaker’s home. Each film is entered into a category including: Documentaries, Youth Films, Icelandic Shorts, Icelandic Panorama, New Visions and more. The festival highlights independent filmmaking from all over the world, emphasizing up-and-coming filmmakers with the main prize – the Golden Puffin – being awarded to first or second time directors.
