From the new film distribution company, Dekanalog, comes The County, a movie set in a small Icelandic farming community that tells the story of Inga. Inga is a middle-aged dairy farmer who rebels against the all-powerful local Cooperative. The film was directed by Grímur Hákonarson and stars Arndís Hrönn Egilsdóttir, Sigurður Sigurjónsson and Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson.
Prior to the full release on April 30, the American Scandinavian Foundation, National Nordic Museum and Scandinavia Film Festival LA will host pre-launch screenings from April 15-18. These screenings will be available for viewing on a virtual cinema screening platform throughout this period. Following these screenings, viewers can enjoy a pre-recorded director Q&A. Icelandic director Grímur Hákonarson, graduated from FAMU in 2004. His graduate film, Slavek The Shit, was selected to the Cinefoundation section of Cannes Film Festival 2005. The film won 12 festival prizes, including the Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival!
