Did you know that beer was once prohibited in Iceland? It wasn’t until March 1st, 1989 that the ban on beer was lifted, and the art of crafting perfectly brewed Icelandic beer returned to the country. Now in its 7th year, the Icelandic Beer Festival returns from February 22-24 to celebrate Iceland’s beer, food, music and more. Since 1994, Sonar is a cultural event that has dazzled audiences for generations. Bringing together dance and electronic music from Iceland and abroad, this festival has served as the link between creativity and technology. The event will be hosted at Reykjavik’s award-winning Harpa concert hall at five different stages with over 3,500 guests. These stages are unique in that in addition to the two traditional Harpa halls, the underground parking lot and scenic rooms of the concert halls will be converted into stages and nightclubs so more performances can be hosted. For four years in a row, the Stockfish Film Festival has showcased the most innovative and award-winning films from Icelandic actors, directors and filmmakers alike.
