Taste of Iceland returns to Denver September 24-27, 2014! The weekend event will celebrate Iceland’s food and music with a variety of exciting cultural activities to give residents of the Mile High City a taste of what Iceland is really like.

Icelandic Menu at Rioja | September 24-27
Denver will get a taste of authentic Icelandic cuisine with a special menu offering at Rioja from September 24-27! Icelandic chef Viktor Örn Andrésson, head chef at Blue Lagoon’s LAVA Restaurant and the 2014 Nordic Chef of the Year, is flying in from Iceland to prepare a special meal showcasing the best of Icelandic cuisine. Chef Viktor will work with Rioja’s Head Chef and Owner Jennifer Jasinski, whose accolades include James Beard Foundation Best Chef Southwest and Colorado Chef of the Year, and Rioja’s Chef de Cuisine Tim Kuklinski to offer diners an unforgettable menu.

Reykjavik Calling Concert | September 27
The popular Reykjavik Calling concert returns to Denver’s 3 Kings Tavern on Saturday, September 27 at 7 PM! Icelandic artists Hermigervill, Retro Stefson and Sin Fang will be paired with three Denver-area musicians for a night of unique musical collaborations. Presented by 88.5 KGNU FM, admission to the concert is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. Must be 21 to enter.

Reyka Vodka Cocktail Classes | September 25-27
Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen Mixologist Chris Sage will lead a series of hands-on craft cocktail classes at sister restaurant Bistro Vendôme. Attendees will receive a demonstration on how to craft a variety of cocktails using Reyka Vodka and Icelandic ingredients as well as a quick look at the history of cocktails, what makes a great drink and more. Classes are free and attendance is limited to 20 per class. Reservations are required; please call Bistro Vendôme at 303-825-3232. 21+

Yarn Storming | September 27
Artist and knitting extraordinaire Linda Björk Eiríksdóttir (also known as BarbaKnit) invites experienced knitters and novice knitters alike to yarn storm Saturday, September 27 from noon – 3 p.m. at the lawn just east of the McNichols Building at Civic Center Park (144 West Colfax). Guests will create an all-new art installation by “yarn storming” park trees with a splash of color and texture. Linda will be available to teach guests easy ways to get started in the wide world of knit art.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn as well as yarn storming starts like gauge samples, the start of a blanket, an unwanted doily, samples of discarded yarn or any other fabric lying around!
