Sónar Returns to Reykjavik With 60+ Artists

Sónar is an international festival that combines, music, creativity and technology.

From February 12th-14th, Reykjavik will host its third Sónar Festival. This festival began in Barcelona in 1994 and has grown to include more than 50 events worldwide. The Sónar Festival’s first class reputation stems from the unique combination of avant-garde nature and electronic dance music’s newest trends. The festival is meant to be a meeting place for creative people from different disciplines and communities around the world.

Sónar presents a program with a common goal: to make the relationship between creativity, technology, mobility, innogation and business more transparent and accessible. The 2015 Reykjavik Sónar Festival will show that it’s not always the largest stage or crowd that matters, but the unique and lively performances that create everlasting memories.

A total of 64 bands will perform throughout the event on 5 stages in Harpa, a unique concert hall located in the heart of the city. The stages consist of the SonarClub, the SonarHall, the SonarComplex, the SonarLab, and a new stage that will be introduced this year. Performers at the event include a mix of both international artists as well as the some of the newest acts from Iceland’s thriving music scene. Performers include: Skrillex, Paul Kalkbrenner, SBTRKT, Jamie XX, Todd Terje, TV on the Radio, Kindness, Nina Kraviz, Jimmy Edgar, Elliphant, Ryan Hemsworth, Sophie Smaris, Mugison and Princes Póló. Some previous Taste of Iceland performers, like Sin Fang, Young Karin and Uni Stefson, will also be performing during the Sónar Reykavik Festival this year. Stay tuned for more information on our Taste of Iceland events coming up this spring!
