On October 7th, New York City’s Scandinavia House will present a virtual Nordic Policing Panel to explore the Nordic approach to law enforcement and the current policing environment worldwide. Margarét Valdimarsdóttir, University of Akureyri Assistant Professor, will be featured on the panel alongside Lars Holmberg, Professor at JUR Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of Law, and Kimm Himberg, Senior Researcher at the Police University College of Finland. The panel will be moderated by Vanessa Barker, Associate Professor of Sociology at Stockholm University.
The panelists will discuss Nordic policing systems, how to regain and maintain trust between police and the communities they serve, and recent reform within the police structure. They will also compare and contrast Nordic policing practices with other areas of the world.
Participants are encouraged to send questions ahead of the discussion to info@amscan.org. There will also be an opportunity for audience members to send questions via chat during the event. Select questions will be chosen for Q&A following the conversation.
In order to participate, audience members must register for the event here. After the event, the conversation will be available for streaming on Scandinavia House’s YouTube page.
