Riot Games Brings Esports to Iceland This May!

Beginning on May 6, League of Legends and Valorant tournaments will be held in Reykjavík

After last year’s cancellation, Riot Games is reintroducing its major international competitions and bringing together the top teams from every region to Iceland’s capital! League of Legends’ 2021 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters will both arrive in Reykjavík this May.

Riot Games, Inc. is an American video game developer, publisher, and esports tournament organizer based in West Los Angeles, California. The company developed both League of Legends and Valorant among others. Each year, players from around the world gather for an esports tournament. Esports are multiplayer video game competitions between professional players that play individually or as teams. This year, the MSI champion’s league will receive an additional regional team spot at the World Championship!

The games will be held at Laugardalshöll indoor sporting arena, where the historic “Match of the Century” 1972 World Chess Championship was held. MSI 2021 will be held May 6-23 and VCT will begin on May 24.

The events will be streamed live online and details will be available at lolesports.com as the event approaches. For both upcoming events in Iceland, teams will be required to quarantine when they arrive, and there will not be an in-person audience.
