In Iceland Apr 29–May 01, 2021

The Iceland Writers Retreat Goes Virtual in 2021.

Hosted virtually from April 29 - May 1, the 2021 IWR is bringing Icelandic literature to wherever you are in the world.

The 2021 Iceland Writers Retreat & Iceland Reader Retreat will be held virtually this year to allow writers from across the world to attend from the safety of their homes.

The Iceland Writers Retreat (IWR) is an acclaimed literary experience that has been running since 2014. The retreat consists of a series of small-group writing workshops led by well known authors, as well as an introduction to Iceland’s rich literary heritage. This year the IWR is bringing Iceland to you, wherever you are in the world, and will offer a series of interactive, live writing workshops. Lectures will be led by some of the popular former faculty including: Pulitzer Prize winner Geraldine Brooks, New Yorker staff writer Adam Gopnik, bestselling author Meg Wollitzer and more. There will also be Icelandic authors leading workshops and taking part in Q&A panels on Icelandic literature.

This year also marks the inaugural Iceland Reader Retreat (IRR), designed for those who love to read and will include book-club style discussions on various themes and author’s work. Avid readers can gather, virtually, to listen to small group lectures by renowned authors. Participants will also have the chance to learn about rick Nordic literary traditions and history! The IRR will run concurrently with the Iceland Writers Retreat.

The Iceland Writers Retreat and Iceland Reader Retreat will be held online from April 29 – May 1.

Registration opens on February 2 and can be found here, and the sign up fee includes access to all workshops, panels and Q&A sessions on offer.

Visit the IWR website for details and for the latest schedule.
