Rainbow Reykjavik is an international LGBT pride festival that offers a variety of nature, activities, tours, culture, cuisine, music and nightlife. Though it started as modest parade, Reykjavik Gay Pride has become one of the biggest celebrations in the country with 100,000 people attending the festivities. This year’s event, which runs from January 29-February 1, will surely be one to remember!
When it comes to LGBT rights, Iceland is a pioneer. Gay people are equal in the eyes of the Icelandic law and have enjoyed full marriage rights since 2010. Iceland is also proud to have the world’s first openly lesbian prime minister, and many come out to Rainbow Reykjavik to show their support.
Interested in attending? Icelandair offers a Rainbow Reykjavik package that includes round-trip flights, hotel accomodation with breakfast, airport transfers, welcome dinner and party, city tour, Kiki Club Night and the always amazing Pink Masquerade Party featuring Paul Oscar. An extended program (January 27-28 and February 1-2) is also available for those who wish to exted their stay.
Program add-ons, available through Iceland’s gay owned and operated travel expert Pink Iceland, include quadbiking and horseback riding tour just outside the city, northern lights tour, Reykjanes Geological tour with a visit to the famous geothermal spa Blue Lagoon, group dinner at Kolabrautin Restaurant in Harpa, Pink Golden Circle Tour and much more.
