New York City’s MET is displaying Icelandic artist, Ragnar Kjartansson’s, exhibit Death Is Elsewhere. From now through September 2, museums goers have the chance to experience the 77-minute video complete with “symmetrical sculptures” moving through the Icelandic landscape to the melody of the title song “Death Is Elsewhere.” As a contemporary piece, Kjartansson filled his work with ironies and clichés telling a story of romance and tragedy.
Ragnar Kjartansson delves into his approach behind developing Death Is Elsewhere during an interview with the MET. Check it out below!
Visitors can experience the immersive exhibit within the Robert Lehman Wing of the MET for the rest of the summer. Let us know what you think about the piece on Twitter!
Not in NYC? Ragnar Kjartansson will also be displaying “The Visitors” at Houston’s MFA starting July 20!
