Race Down Troll Peninsula at Iceland’s Annual Super Troll Ski Race!

Skiers will compete for the title of Super Troll at this exciting ski race in Siglufjord.

Since 2014, the annual Super Troll Ski Race gathers all types of skiers from advanced to beginners for an exciting competition on Tröllaskagi (Troll Peninsula) in Iceland. From May 11-13, skiers will climb one of two tracks (15 km or 8 km) and then descend down the mountain peak to the quaint town of Siglufjörður.

The race offers tracks for two different types of competitors, advanced or intermediate, but all are welcome to come watch and celebrate with the skiers. Winners will compete for the title of “Super Troll,” honoring the Icelandic culture and mythology of elves and trolls. Prizes will be awarded to the first three skiers to cross the finish line. The first place winner will win a trip to go heli skiing, second place will win ski gear from Fjallakofinn and third place will receive a complimentary night stay for two at Sigló Hótel. There will also be various prizes given out to spectators and participants throughout the weekend.

The weekend will also be full of of celebrations in Siglufjörður with Icelandic music and food that’s perfect for the whole family! Guests are encouraged to stay at the Sigló Hótel, a unique accommodation surrounded by picturesque mountains and the town of Siglufjord.
