Ófeigur Sigurðsson, Acclaimed Icelandic Author, Tours the U.S. this October!

Sigurðsson’s best-selling novel, “The Wasteland,” hits U.S shelves this fall

This October, one of Iceland’s most notable literary Icelandic poets and authors, Ófeigur Sigurðsson, will tour the United States to discuss his new book and accomplished career. The book tour is set to launch the English translation of his best-selling novel, Öræfi: The Wasteland. The novel follows Bernhardt Fingerberg after his treacherous solo adventure climbing Vatnajökull Glacier. In desperate need of care, he finds himself in the care of a doctor who soon starts to question Fingerberg’s motives for taking on this dangerous task. Sigurðsson’s novel won the Icelandic Book prize, the Icelandic Booksellers’ prize, and became the best selling literary book of 2014-2015 in Iceland.

Ófeigur Sigurðsson was born in Reykjavík in 1975 and attended the University of Iceland where he received his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. In addition to writing “Öræfi: The Wasteland,” he has published six books of poetry and his other novel, Jon. He is most well known for being a leader in the movement to the reshape Icelandic poetry and is noted as “one of the best writers of his generation” (Amazon).

His tour begins on October 9 and finishes October 19. From New York to San Francisco to Texas, Ófeigur Sigurðsson will be sharing his novel with the United States for the first time.
