Northern Voices Concert at New York’s Scandinavia House

For one night only, the music of Iceland and the United States will be brought together on October 13th, 2016 at the Northern Voices concert. Taking place at the Scandinavia House in New York City, the concert will pay tribute to the relationship between Iceland and the U.S. and explore the effect of seeing oneself through another’s eyes. With performances by American pianist Evan Fein and Icelandic tenor Bragi Bergþórsson, this is sure to be an unforgettable night featuring songs inspired by the cultural connection of these two countries.

The evening’s selections will include Fein’s New Icelandic Folksongs with lyrics by Thorvaldur Kristjánsson, as well as works by composers Halldór Smárason, Jón Leifs, Jón Þórarinsson, Joseph Hallman and more. A new trio of songs with lyrics by the novelist Ragnar Jónasson will also premiere, honoring the dialogue between popular and classical idioms of Icelandic and American art and culture.
