Meet the Designers of This Year’s Reykjavik Fashion Festival

The 2017 festival features six of Iceland’s most daring and talented designers.

For the seventh year, the Reykjavik Fashion Festival (RFF) is taking place at Harpa from March 23-26 as a part of DesignMarch. This year, the festival showcases six Icelandic designers looking to make a splash in the world of fashion.

Anita Hirlekars

Anita creates unique handmade garments with strong attention to color and texture. She was recently named one of the top up-and-coming Scandinavian designers by Elle DK and was featured in Vogue Italia as one of 200 international emerging designers.

Cintamani

Cintamani uses Icelandic nature and outdoor lifestyle as inspiration for their newest collection, “Iceland From Below.” The group of young designers looks to create a sustainable fashion brand by using bluesign® and OEKO-TEX approved fabrics.

Inklaw

Inklaw describes their designs as “minimalistic, functional and street influenced.” In 2017, they hope to gain international exposure from the Reykjavik Fashion Festival and have a successful retail launch at traditional brick-and-mortar stores.

Magnea Einarsdóttir

Magnea is known for her innovative knitwear and mix of contrasting materials. Since the foundation of her studio, she has received nominations for the Iceland Design Award and the Reykjavik Grapevine Fashion Design of the Year.

Myrka

Myrka Iceland is describe as a “high-end rebellious fashion brand.” The brand is looking forward to presenting its first full collection for men and women under the name Myrka, inspired by Icelandic heritage and nature.

Ýr

Ýr takes sustainable fashion to a new level. The designers focused on long lasting items and natural fibers while creating their line for RFF, Another Creation. Another Creation is defined as having longevity, flexibility and environmental awareness.
