Jónsi & Alex Somers to Perform “Riceboy Sleeps” at Kings Theatre

Musician and composer duo Jónsi & Alex will perform the album with the Wordless Music Orchestra and Choir on October 31.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of “Riceboy Sleeps,” Jónsi of Sigur Rós and film composer Alex Somers will perform their full album for the first time, alongside American orchestras.

After hitting Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto, DC, and Boston, Jónsi & Alex are closing out their North American tour with a production at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY on October 31. These shows feature the Wordless Music Orchestra and Choir, a New York City-based band conducted by Robert Ames from the London Contemporary Orchestra. Tickets are on sale now for this unique, intimate show.

Released in 2009, “Riceboy Sleeps” is the pair’s first public album, which features collaborations with a string quartet, Amiina, and the Kópavogsdætur Choir. Guided by ambient sounds and acoustic instruments, this album was designed to take listeners on a journey of soothing emotional discovery.

Aside from one small show in 2010, no works from “Riceboy Sleeps” have been performed live until this tour. Today, top compositions from the album, such as “Boy 1904” and “Happiness,” have acquired multi-million streams through placements on some of the world’s most popular playlists.
