Iceland’s crime fiction festival, Iceland Noir, returns to Reykjavik from November 16-18, 2018. The festival originated in 2013 by acclaimed Icelandic crime fiction writers Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, Ragnar Jónasson and Quentin Batesf. The first Iceland Noir event lasted only one day and took place in the Nordic House in Reykjavik. After a successful launch, the festival appeared again the following year in 2014 and has become a staple in Icelandic fictional literature ever since.
Iceland Noir 2018 will take place in the Iðnó theater, a cultural center inside a classic 19th century building located in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. The festival includes crime-writing workshops, multiple panels with authors in conversation (including Iceland’s First Lady, Eliza Reid!), and cocktail hours. To close the festival, guests are invited to take part in the mystery bus tour, an unprecedented tour which will stop by various Icelandic towns, giving participants the chance to indulge in culture and view beautiful Icelandic landscapes.
