Icelandic Literature to be Featured at The Virtual Göteborg Book Fair!

Once again, Icelandic authors and literature will be featured in Scandinavia’s largest book fair.

This year’s Göteborg Book Fair will once again feature Icelandic authors and literature! Andri Snær Magnason, Kristín Eiríksdóttr, and Bergur Ebbi will take part in various seminars alongside authors from other Nordic countries.

As a result of restrictions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual event will take place virtually from September 24-27, 2020. Over 100 online seminars will bring authors and their diverse perspectives to readers’ living rooms. The broadcasts will be accessible on the Göteborg Book Fair’s website and will be free to all viewers!

The Göteborg Book Fair began in Sweden in 1985 as a conference for librarians, attracting 5,000 visitors. Today, it is the largest book fair in Scandinavia with over 90,000 book lovers in attendance each year. In an effort to preserve the culture promoted by the annual event, the book fair will be adapted into a digital Bildung Hub from September 24-25, followed by a digital literature festival from September 26-27. The Bildung Hub will follow the themes of reading promotion and digital culture, targeted towards schools and libraries, while the literature festival will feature over 75 programs encompassing the themes of crimetime, brain, contemporary, ideas, life and literary salon.

Be sure to look out for Icelandic authors and literature throughout the virtual events! For further updates, follow the Göteborg Book Fair on Twitter.
