An Icelandic Knitting Workshop is Coming to the Scandinavia House in NYC

Learn to knit your own traditional Lopapeysa “Lopi” sweater with native Icelanders this month.

Bring the family to the Scandinavia House (58 Park Avenue New York, NY 10016) to learn the secrets of two stranded knitting, grafting, steeking, chart reading, yarn dominance and decreasing. Native Icelanders Hildur Hildur Loftsdóttir and Steinunn Harðardóttir, as well as designer Védís Jónsdóttir, will provide lessons on how to knit your very own traditional Icelandic Lopapeysa “Lopi” sweater.

The workshops will take place during three sessions on 1/23 (10:00 AM-12:00 PM), 1/27 (6:00 PM- 8:00 PM), and 1/30 (10:00 AM-12:00 PM). Participants will need to know basic knitting techniques and are asked to bring their own knitting needles. “Lopi” yarn is available at Knitty City and online. General Admission is $75.00 and only $60.00 for ASF members.
