The Embassy of Iceland in Washington D.C. invites you to a special literary event with renowned Icelandic author, Olaf Olafsson, on January 13th from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m at the Politics and Prose Bookstore.
Olaf will discuss his new book, “The Sacrament,” with the Ambassador of Iceland to the United States, Bergdís Ellertsdóttir.
Olafsson’s new book is an intricately plotted psychological thriller that centers on unanswered questions surrounding a Catholic school in Iceland. Sent by the Vatican to investigate charges of sexual abuse, a nun arrives the day the school’s headmaster falls to his death from the bell tower. Was this an admission of guilt, an accident, or a crime? Twenty years later, summoned by the only student who witnessed the death, the nun returns to Iceland and reckons with the unknowns of her own past.
