Iceland Affair Hosts 6th Annual Fire & Ice Festival

A music, food, and fun-filled event coming to Connecticut this October!

This October 17th, Gerri Griswold’s Iceland Affair presents the 6th annual Fire & Ice Music Festival, a dynamic show of Icelandic talent that shouldn’t be missed. It’s taking place in Winchester Center, Connecticut and promises to bring the eclectic sounds of the Icelandic music scene to the U.S. In addition, attendees will get the chance to sample traditional Icelandic foods, come face to face with Icelandic animal life, and listen to seven exciting presentations.

We already know the enigmatic sounds of Björk and Sigur Rós, but this is a chance to see even more Icelandic talent in action. It’s a chance to admire how the lush and sometimes explosive landscapes of Iceland inspires the musicians that live there. The concert will take place in the Infinity Music Hall, and feature performances by:

Svavar Knutur: A singer/songwriter who uses storytelling as a mode of communication as he croons tales of love, tragedy and redemption.

Bjorn Thoroddsen: Known as Iceland’s “Guitar Hero” and famed for his extensive repertoire which includes rock, blues, country, pop, jazz, and more. See some of his live performances here.

Kristjana Stefánsdóttir: A big player in the Icelandic Jazz/Blues scene, she’s a big collaborator with other Icelandic Jazz musicians as well as a solo performer who appears on radio, television and in concerts regularly.

Myrra Rós: A singer/songwriter based in Reykjavik, whose lo-fi folk pop is complemented by her incredible style of energizing live performance.

Sóley: A solo artist specializing in alt-pop tunes with a dark, dreamy quality as well as poetic, fairytale-like lyrics.

In addition to the music, traditional Icelandic food like skyr, chocolate, smoked fish and more will be served in Winchester’s Grange Hall. Ever wanted to hang out with purebred Icelandic horses, dogs, and sheep? Iceland Affair provides that, too! Those attending will even have the chance to listen to seven wildly talented presenters, whose talks will cover everything from Nancy Marie Brown’s Iceland Vikings to Brian Bradley’s birds of prey.
