Every year, the track and field club of Reykjavik celebrates the end of the year with its New Year’s Eve 10K Run. This year, the event begins at 12:00pm on December 31. The annual 10K run, held in downtown Reykjavík, attracts both elite runners as well as recreational runners of all ages. To make it even more fun, many participants dress up in costumes! In fact, there’s a special prize awarded to the runner with the most unique costume – who said you had to be fast to win?! Many runners from abroad are drawn to this event as they can then stick around and enjoy the unique bonfires and spectacular fireworks that light up the Reykjavik sky on New Year’s Eve.
You have until December 30 to register, so grab your sneakers, book a flight on Icelandair and head to Reykjavik for this exciting annual event! Click here for more information.
