One of the most unique and entertaining film festivals in the world, the Iceland Comedy Film Festival, returns for its fourth year! From September 19-22, enjoy comedy films from all over the world at the fishing village of Flateyri, located in Iceland’s Westfjords. The festival draws its inspiration from its natural surroundings with both outdoor screenings in the fjords, as well as indoor screenings in extremely unique spaces, such as an old renovated fish oil tank.
Founded in 2016 by filmmakers Eythor Jovinsson and Arsaell Nielsson following the success of their own film festival tour, the event sets itself apart from other festivals by focusing on celebrating laughter and joy. According to Jovinsson and Nielsson, the absence of fun they experienced at other festivals set them on the path “to create their own with the sole purpose to entertain and make people laugh.”
Along with showcasing a variety of comic films, the festival will host comedy theater events and stand-up shows accompanied by traditional Icelandic dishes. Click here for more information and to see photos from previous years.
