After nearly 74 years of prohibition in Iceland, the law was finally lifted on March 1, 1989. In honor of the historic end to the prohibition, Iceland will celebrate its 8th Annual Icelandic Beer Festival from February 21 to February 23. Each year the festival includes some of the most exciting and unique breweries from all over the world.
This year’s festival is held at the Ægir Brewery at Ægisgarður and features beers from breweries in Canada, Denmark, Sweden, UK, the United States and more. Borg Brugghús, Cloudwater Brew Co. and RVK Brewing Co. are just a few of the breweries that will be in attendance. This festival is a rare opportunity for beer lovers from all over the world to come together and bond over a common interest: beer!
The three-day event consists of one tasting session each day, followed by live music performances each night. A ticket will provide you with a wristband that will get you access to all of the festival’s activities and priority access to the live band and DJ performances.
