From February 2-5, Reykjavik’s Winter Lights Festival will take over the sky for the 16th time. The festival weekend is packed with free cultural events throughout the city! All of Reykjavik’s major museums, geothermal pools and a ski resort participate in the celebration.
The Winter Lights Festival is a celebration of both the winter world and increasing daily sunlight and will kick off with the illumination of the lights throughout the city. This year’s Winter Lights Festival will mix art and industry, environment. history, sports and culture with the weekend packed with events like Museum Night and Pool Night.
Join nearly 40 museums within the capital area in celebrating Icelandic culture on Friday, February 3 at Museum Night. Museums will open their doors to guests looking to enjoy fashion shows, lectures, live music, film, literature readings and more from 6pm – 11pm!
After getting your fix of Icelandic Culture join festival-goers at Pool Night on Saturday, February 4 from 6pm-11pm. Ten of Reykjavik’s largest geothermal pools will be open to visitors to swim and enjoy the naturally heated water. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern lights!
