The Dark Music Days Festival returns to Reykjavík from January 26th to February 1st! The festival is celebrated during the darkest period of the Icelandic winter and features contemporary music from all over the world. Hosted at the Harpa Concert Hall in downtown Reykjavík, the festival serves as a platform for artists to showcase their new work.
Founded in 1980 by the Iceland Composers’ Society, the festival originated as an opportunity for Icelandic composers to present their work. Today, the event continues the tradition of championing new contemporary music, with an emphasis on Icelandic compositions and performers.
The 2020 festival will feature performances from the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra, Heiða Árnadóttir, Marco Fusi, and more! For a full lineup and program of events, check out the Dark Music Days website. Tickets to the event are available now for all performances! Which act are you looking forward to seeing at this year’s festival? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter!
