San Francisco-based filmmaker Sara Dosa’s new documentary, “THE SEER AND THE UNSEEN”, will take on the big screen at DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary film festival, on November 12. This festival highlights achievements in films through panels and screenings to guide audiences toward inspiring work. Set against the dramatic Icelandic landscape, “THE SEER AND THE UNSEEN” tells a story about environmentalism and elves that serves as a microcosm for human relationships and nature.
“THE SEER AND THE UNSEEN” is a magic realist documentary about invisible elves, financial collapse and the surprising power of belief, told through the two-year story of an Icelandic woman named Ragga who speaks on behalf of nature under threat. Through her experiences, the film explores the surprising power of belief and invisible forces – be they elves or the market – that shape our visible worlds and transform our natural landscapes.
Dosa’s work will make its New York City premiere at 5:10 p.m. at Cinepolis Chelsea. Filmmakers and subjects will lead a question and answer session after the film.
