Aldrei Fór Ég Suður Music Festival 2016 Kicks off in March

The annual Icelandic music festival returns to Ísafjörður this spring.

Between March 24 – 26, the small town of Ísafjörður in the Westfjords of Iceland will be taken over by the Aldrei Fór Ég Suður music festival. The festival, which has been held in Ísafjörður every year since 2004, started off as a one night event but has now grown into a three day event stretching from from Thursday to Saturday.

Created by two Ísafjörður natives, Aldrei Fór Ég Suður not only showcases Iceland’s vibrant and diverse music scene but also exhibits the beauty and allure of Ísafjörður. Each year, the population of the picturesque town (roughly 2,500 people) comes together to partake in the festivities in one way or another.

As for the lineup, Aldrei Fór Ég Suður brings together some of the biggest names in the Icelandic music scene with local bands from Ísafjörður. This year’s program is a great mix of big stars as well as new artists, including Risaeðlan, Emilíana Torrini, Agent Freso, Úlfur Úlfur, Sykur, and many more.
